It's crazy, and potentially dangerous to shop when it's chaotic at the mall. Security guards vigilantly prowl the hallways, but when there's bags full of expensive presents, police say there's bound to be people who want to take them.

There was a recent case where an individual's wallet was stolen and all the credit cards were used. Make sure you're very aware what you have and continue look at it.

Police say keep your bags close, and your credit cards closer. Leave your purse at home, and carry only a few cards and what cash you need in a secure place.

Most importantly, after your gifts are bought and ready to be wrapped, stash them in a safe place. The parking lots are packed, and you never know who is watching. Police say when you store presents in your car, hide them in the trunk.

Because an ounce of prevention is worth pounds of presents!
