Lights, Camera, and Action

As I research the educational activities in the Reno and Sparks area, I am constantly reminded how many activities we have in our immediate area. One of these educational activities is the Planetarium at the University of Nevada just a few yards north of the Lawlor Event Center. The Planetarium has shows for our educational enjoyment nearly everyday all day. The days and hours are Sunday - Thursday from 10:30 am - 7 pm, Friday - Saturday 10:30 am - 9 pm. The showtime hot line is 775-784-4811. For a fee of approximately $6 for adults and $4 for youth you will see a breath taking show.

The Ultimate Universe and Seasonal Stargazing is daily at 2 pm and 6 pm. Extreme Planets is daily at 4 pm. The Living Sea is daily at 1 pm and 5 pm. Dinosaurs Alive! is daily at 3 pm. A full dome light and sound show on Friday and Saturday at 8 pm for $6. And if that is not enough, Larry: Cat in Space is a family matinee at 10 am on Saturday, Sunday and Holidays.

The Planetarium has a 60 seat theater. This Planetarium was the first in the world to project full-dome movies! http://planetarium.unr.nevada.edu/index.html Enjoy your visit!
