Pogonip in Northern Nevada

What is pogonip you might ask? Pogonip according to Webster is a dense winter fog containing frozen particles that is formed in deep mountain valleys of the Western United states. Well Reno and Sparks have been experiencing pogonip for a few days now. In this type of fog, we must all drive very carefully. In the evening hour with the pogonip fog, we have the perfect environment for a thin layer of ice to form on the roads. At times, the pogonip fog can be so thick you might not be able to see your hand. Use caution and slow down any transportation with wheels for the next few days or any time pogonip occurs.
